After a brief period of being out of stock, these affordable alternatives to the official HoldFast tripod clips are available again.

I’m always upfront about these; they are not as good as the HoldFast version, but they also cost less than a quarter of the real thing and do a pretty good job, so it’s worth having one or two as a spare in case you lose your HF branded tripod clips and need to keep shooting at a wedding or event.

The main difference between these and the HF version is the lack of a nylon bar threaded through the screw thread, which is a really effective way to add friction and make it harder to remove the screw accidentally when you’re shooting.

The cheaper alternative clips don’t have that nylon bar so you’re relying on the friction of the screw thread and the rubber stopper, which is usually more than enough, especially if you keep it in mind to do an occasional check on your gear whilst shooting, and also use the safety lanyard for some redundancy.
